Nakano-an is a two story Kyomachiya located minutes north of "Nijo" Castle, hidden at the end of a narrow, gated alleyway lined with Machiya.
A relatively large "Doma"(traditional earthen floor) entrance and inner garden, make the layout of this Home unique. Passing time on the veranda facing the quiet inner garden, or relaxing in the Home's "Koyamaki" bath, makes one forget that they are merely moments away from "Nijo" castle, one Kyoto's most popular and grandest tourists sites. Up the Home's spiral staircase is a western-style bedroom as well as a "tatami" room.
Nakano-an is also close to "Shinsenen," which is one of the less visited locations in Kyoto but is said to be oldest existing garden in Kyoto. A bus and train station useful for seeing Kyoto's numerous sites are also within walking distance.
