Anenishi-an is a two story Kyomachiya found on a quiet side street off "Sanjyo Shoutengai," Kyoto's largest shopping arcade.
Anenishi-an's narrow doorway opens up to a large foyer that leads into a living room with a dining table that sits six and overlooks a Japanese inner garden. The Home boasts a traditional wooden bath made of "Koyamaki," also peering into the garden. Upon renovation, a part of the second floor was transformed into a western style bedroom, and the original ceilings were removed to reveal beautiful wooden beams that have secretly held the high roof of this Kyomachiya up for decades.
Surrounded by three temples and located right off "Sanjo Shoutengai," which is very much a local shopping street, Anenishi-an provides a glimpse into a distinctly Kyoto way of living.
Anenishi-an is also a 10 minute walk from "Nijo" Castle and "Shijo Omiya," an area popular for its restaurants as well as local bars and "Izakaya".
